'The Pastor's Ass'

The pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won. The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the race again, and it won again. The local paper read:
PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT
The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the pastor not to enter the donkey in another race. The next day, the local paper headline read:
BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ASS.
This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent.
The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day:
NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN.
The bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for $10. The next day the paper read:
NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10.
This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild. The next day the headlines read:
NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE.
The bishop was buried the next day.
The moral of the story is . .Being concerned about public opinion can bring you grief and misery ... even shorten your life. So be yourself and enjoy life. Stop worrying about everyone else's ass and you'll be happier and live longer!

so i posted, to blog or not to blog, that is the question. my brother kirk commented and i love what he said. it basically summed up how i was feeling. he said,

"That really is the question. Blog if you have something you want to share with others. Blogs are a lot of work, and most of the people you know don't have blogs. Comments are fun, but we are no longer in high school. It isn't a popularity contest. Let your blog be what it is and don't worry about anything else. If you blog once a month, then so be it. If you want to rant and rave about politics, religion, and gay people, that is fine too. Hopefully, your blog will just be a reflection of you that people can enjoy and share in."

skiing

we had such a fun day saturday and no pictures to show for it. ahh! we (todd, the kids, & me) went skiing with kirk and susan. well kirk, susan, and tyson went boarding. it was kirk's first time and of course he did really well. mr. athletic, is there anything you're bad at? lol! we're just all jealous that's all. it was tyson's 2nd time boarding and he did such a good job, proud of you buddy. our little princess has a need for speed! holy cow, she just wanted to get down the mountain as fast as she could and loved it. that normally wouldn't worry me, but there were so many people and i worried about a collision. there was a girl that slammed into tys as he was down on the mountain. uh hello, get some control! thanks to todd for helping bay and being so patient. she was funny...i would ride up on the lift with her and after the first time she wanted to get off all by herself! i forgot this was only her 2nd time skiing! wow girlfriend you're awesome!
thank you carrie, my wonderful sister-in-law, for watching crew! we really appreciate you and your willingness to always help. her girls loved having crew there and now addy "wants one of these" meaning a baby. i want them to have one too. :0) i always worry about leaving my kids, worry that they will be difficult or something. luckily crew was his normal self and did great. he is such a good baby and boy do we love him.

bugged

i'm so bugged, imagine that. lol! anyone that knows me well knows i can easily be bugged, not my best quality. why am i bugged you ask? well last night my sweet husband took me to the jazz game, thanks babe, that's not what bugged me....as the national anthem was being sung i always take note of which athletes put their hand on their heart and which ones don't. this really irritates me. i look at it as disrespect for our flag and our country. every time i see our beautiful american flag i get the chills. i love america and i'm so grateful to live here. so anyways, like usual i take note and am irritated. i don't understand why the majority of them don't. for the record, only 3 jazz players had their hand on their heart. not only was it the majority of the athletes that didn't, but i started to notice so many spectators didn't! and not taking your hat off, oh my. so do any of you know why the majority of athletes don't? just curious. in my mind i don't see a valid reason, but then again i could be wrong, it wouldn't be a first.

sweet dreams update

last monday we had the opportunity to take the kids and our 95 pillow cases to primary children's hospital. we didn't really know what to expect, if we would just be dropping them off or if we could talk with my contact there. luckily the coordinator was there and it turned out to be such an awesome experience. she first had us stand by the christmas tree with each of the kids holding a pillow case. she gave my family and carrie's each a picture attached to a quote about giving/sharing. she was great and got down on the kids level and had me read this quote to them. she then talked to them about the hospital, showed them pictures, and talked to them about how our pillow cases would help the hospital. this really touched my kids. i loved the conversation that tyson and baylie had in the car after we left. i couldn't believe how much this affected them. this is really what the holidays are about, family and service. this was so worth the many hours that i spent with my sewing machine. i am already looking forward to the next donation. i love the feeling i get when i'm serving and giving to others.

project sweet dreams

i am so excited about a new adventure my sister-in-law carrie & i are doing. it's called project sweet dreams. we just started it & we hope it turns into something big. we are making pillow cases to donate to primary children's hospital. it all started because we wanted our kids to know there is more to christmas than just receiving gifts. i want my children, & so does carrie, to know the value of service & how amazing & wonderful it is. we were just going to do it at christmas time, but we decided to do it through out the year. i can't imagine being a child & having to spend your days in the hospital. i would love to brighten their days, or nights, with a pillow case made with love. i'm also so excited because i talked to my sister gretchen & she is going to start a minnesota branch. how fun huh? if any of you would like to be involved, either by donating fabric, making pillow cases, or donating $ please let me know. we are so excited & will keep you posted. happy holidays & sweet dreams!
