my husband the snoring janitor

i don't remember when it was, but tyson was talking about todd's job & said something about him being a janitor! we busted up laughing & told tyson, "no your dad is a manager!" well yesterday tyson asked if todd had gone into work to do his janitor job. i again reminded him that he was a manager, not a janitor. i think to kids all jobs are the same. funny boy.

also, i have slept in tyson's bed the last couple of nights because my backs been killing. we need a new mattress in a bad way. last night tyson said, "mom, can i sleep in my bed tonight because i've been having to listen to dad snore." he hadn't said anything before about todd's snoring. i feel so bad for my sweet husband. he has been working so much, thanks to the manager job, & is just exhausted! he has never snored before so i am assuming it's due to the exhaustion. sorry babe!

not what you think

for those of you that read the comments people leave don't get too excited or the wrong idea. my sister-in-law tami posted a comment about being so excited for me & wondering how i was feeling. it's not what you think. i get really bad headaches & migraines & i just found some new medicine. it's a good thing for me & i'm really happy about it. sorry, really not that exciting.

saying no...feels so good!

i have been a people pleaser for most of my life & it's actually something i am trying to change. i am working on saying no & when i do it feels so good. don't get me wrong i still like being nice & doing things for people, but i'm working on focusing on my little family first. life is so busy & in the past i have agreed to things & that means less time for my family. in the last couple of weeks i have said no twice, one of which was this morning, & i actually felt empowered. some may find this funny, but i'm so happy. for years i have always felt guilty if i couldn't do everything for everyone, now i don't. yeah, happy day!

butt baby

both of my kids were born c-section. i felt very lucky when it came to questions about how babies are born. i could just say the dr. cuts open your stomach & pulls the baby out. well this was all good until the week after thanksgiving. tyson out of the blue began this conversation:

tyson: mom, do all drs. just cut open your stomach & pull the baby out or do some hospitals & drs. do it different?

me: what do you mean? (in my mind i am trying to prepare myself & wondering where he received other info & what he was going to ask next!)

tyson: well on fred clause (we had seen this over thanksgiving weekend with my in-laws) when santa was born he came out his mom's bum! (now if you haven't seen it don't worry they don't show the actual birth, well not from down below. they do show her knees though & you can see they don't cut open her stomach.)

me: well you know how girls have a private & boys have a private? well the baby can be born out the girls private too. (i did not want to have this conversation at 6 or ever for that matter, but i also didn't want him telling people that i said babies are born out your bum! i also didn't want to give more info than was necessary)

baylie: we are not suppose to be talking about privates!

i wanted to die laughing & i felt like i had just been hit with a ton of bricks. he was just fine with my answer & went on his way. i guess you can never prepare yourself with all the right answers & when to give them. why is it that kids don't come with an instruction manual? lol!

so later that night i was telling todd about this & tyson was watching tv with todd. todd was giving tyson a hard time about something & tyson said to him, "at least i'm not a butt baby!" we were both dying of laughter. so todd & i are both butt babies, what about you?

it's the size of texas & i have a complex!

saturday night we went to dinner with some of todd's family. as we got out of the car i asked tyson to put his coat on. he didn't want to & was having some attitude. speaking of attitude, what happened to my perfectly sweet boy? is there something about the age of 6? my sister said boys are hard from 6 to 8, great! back to the story. i said, "you have an attitude the size of texas. do you know how big texas is? it's huge!" tyson replied, "like your butt?!" it was one of those moments that i wanted to smack him & laugh at the same time. he is so quick witted & funny. he thinks of things so fast. later that night we were at my mom's house, man i love having her home, & i was lying horizontally on my side on the bottom bunk talking to my mom. tyson used my hip to get off the top bunk & said, "thanks for letting me use your big butt!" ok this time i wanted to smack him & just cry. i know he's not saying this stuff to be mean, but i don't want him talking like this. i want him to respect me & still have fun. i am trying to work with him on talking nicer. he, todd, & my brother trash talk when they are playing the wii & most of the time it's just funny, but now he is starting to do it a lot. he makes bay feel bad quite a bit & i just don't want to have that in my home. oh then sunday i was ironing our church clothes & my niece elizabeth ran into the room & said, "hey fat lady go get your stuff!" talk about having a complex now. i guess the truth hurts, right?
